City folks' wellness centre from farm-to-plate

Nutribah Wellness Centre

Preston Sean learned that health is wealth the hard way back when he was working in Kuala Lumpur where drinking and smoking were part of his lifestyle.

Given the lease of life after a surgery, the former Sabahan lawyer co-founded Nutribah, a wellness place in Sabah, to have more people living healthier lifestyles either through food or exercise.

Its command centre, which is located along Jalan Kampung Minintod in Penampang, houses a variety of organic vegetables, fruits and seafood.

Preston believes that healthy lives begin with the right food to nourish the body and prevent diseases.

Having said that, his farms’ operations aim to produce organic produce and seafood, at affordable prices for consumers.

Other than  Kampung Minintod, Nutribah has other farms at Kampung Maang in Lok Kawi, Kimanis, Keningau, Kalabakan and Tawau.

With fresh produce from its six organic farms, it could fulfill all the seven essential nutrients- water, probiotic, protein, healthy fats, vitamin, fibre and carbs, that are vital for the human body.

While Preston and his two partners had no farming background, but with technology they could cater their good agriculture practice and organic certified products to the markets.

Among those products are different types of kales, long beans, kailan, moringa, honey, antibiotic free chicken, mushroom, kimchi, organic tiger grouper and siakap, as well as Sipadan mangrove prawn.

Their prawns are one-of-a-kind as Nutribah is feeding it with sacha inchi pallets which are high in Omega 3, 6 and 9. They are also free from pollutants and safer to consume as compared to sea prawns.

Consumers can also enjoy their freshly cooked produce at the wellness centre at Kampung Minintod.

Among the available dine-in menu include Organic Wellness Hotpot which serves the freshest ingredients in their soul-nourishing collagen hotpot made from homemade bone broth. This is definitely good for health-conscious people  who want to look glowy and youthful.

The second menu is the poke noodle bowl which is perfect for a quick, healthy lunch that gives you energy throughout the day.

Others are open-faced sourdough sandwichiches, smoothies and yoghurt Breakfast bowls.

Rehydrate yourself with its signature juices-kale and pineapple, pink booster and coconut juice.

The eatery opens everyday from 9am to 8pm.

Exercising at open air

Exercising at the open-air gymnasium.

Eversince the Covid-19 pandemic hit the world, the health authority has constantly reminded people to avoid confined space to reduce the virus transmission.

Such a restriction would definitely upset gym buffs.

But at Nutribah, its alfresco gym helps to alleviate the fear and thus people can focus on doing their exercises. Here, the types of exercises offered are functional training and yoga classes.

Why functional training? It has many benefits including improving movement patterns and efficiency, improving your physique, increasing calories burn and lean muscle mass.

Yoga has its own magic for the body. It improves strength, balance and flexibility. The movement also helps with back pain relief, relaxes you and gives better sleep quality.

Gym members are also able to access the hiking trail as Nutribah is located adjacent to the Bukit Padang.

Another perk working out at the Nutribah is the beautiful sunset view!
