Asquare Night Market, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

If you have been to ASquare Night Market Kota Kinabalu (near KK Promenade hotel), it is hardly to 'miss' stinky tofu for its pungent smell.

Tried it once when I traveled to Taipei and the taste was quite acceptable.

Here is the ASquare version. The taste is like eating fried bean curd while sitting in a barnyard with lot of cow dung.

Mix them with the gravy should help to mask the smell, a bit.

Eating its acar (carrot and cucumber pickles) helps to cleanse palate. But, the smell still lingers.

A set of stinky tofu is RM6.50 per set (Takeaway RM7).

The Stinky Tofu stall is next to this container.

This is a nice alfresco place for city folks and tourists to hang out

This night market  offers wide array of food. But it is quite expensive, on average, it is about RM10.

As you can see in several pictures here, most food are served in plastic or disposable containers which meant foodies are contributing significant amount of trash in the city.
The more I eat, the more I think badly of myself. Usually I opt to dine in at restaurants, so the owners will not have to use polystyrene for the takeaway.
Perhaps they can impose few cents of discounts if people bring their own container or bottle to eat or drink there.

Another yummy food, Thai beef noodle.
