Is Peng Joon's workshop good?

Colleagues and I spent half day for this free workshop by so-called super rich non-fiction author Peng Joon who claimed that money are cashing in even when he is sleeping.

The session started at 2pm and scheduled to finish around 4pm. About 300 people turned up for the event held at the Hyatt hotel in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Also saw senior citizens (one with very bad hunch) took part in the workshop.

In the beginning, Peng Joon threw the common ice-breaking questions such as "Are you born ready? It is not impossible? You are here because you think it is worth your time."

After that he started to talk about his poor and hardworking father who was a government servant turned durian farmer...then he talked about him aced and got a scholarship but didn't do well while studying in UK.

After about 30 minutes, Peng Jun started to showing off how much he is earning, lavish and luxury lifestyle, travelling here and there. He showed several testimonial videos from successful people/former workshop trainees saying how good is Peng Jun.

Every time when a video was playing, he would be drinking a lot of water at the corner. I am not sure if it is normal for someone to feel so thirsty every 15 minutes in an air-conditioned room.

He did repeat himself many times that he was not the kind of "motivational speaker" who only repeat theories but never make profit/ have "real" business.

He kept on convincing that however way he is getting money from internet, his way is also meant for everyone as they don't have to be a programmer or web designer or tech savvy to start one.

"Professionals are always around and earning same amount of money over time, but marketers are the one getting the most from 'scaling' higher profitability from the business," he reiterated.

Towards the end, he told the audience that he would be having one and only 2-day (advance) workshop in Kuala Lumpur  for next year in Feb 15 and 16.

Initially, Peng Jun said the workshop would cost about USD3,900 or about RM16,000. However, suddenly he said that he would fork out own money to sponsor air tickets (Kota Kinabalu- Kuala Lumpur) and accommodation for those who sign up for the course.

Then, he further reduced the fee to RM3,000 plus.

IS HE A SCAMMER?

The way he said about how a man who did not know how to play piano earned loads of money from making use of an 8-hour footage of a teacher playing piano to sell the skill online... could also be the way how he is going to earn more money from those who believe he is really rich from doing some online business.

I googled him while he did the talk. Apparently, top searches indicate that he is top, good, positive, famous, rich, endorsed here and there...

Do I believe that he is truly a business builder? Not really.

SO?

Well, Peng Joon did a lot of good research that some could be good takeaways.

Be optimistic, new tech rocks, remember to expect RM3 return of investment from RM1 spent on Facebook Ad, branding is important and nothing is impossible.

I find the links and videos sent via email prior to this workshop are more useful and interesting though.
