Valentine's Dinner@ Avangio hotel

Valentine's dinner is also a pre-birthday celebration for me. On Feb 14, I was feted a "A night to remember" dinner at Avangio hotel which worth RM196 per couple.

Before I go to the part of a "night to remember", let me share the menu served.

As you can see in the menu, the set also include house wine and a stalk of rose.

First meal is the pan-seared tiger prawn and scallop served with Arugula, roasted pepper and thyme oil.

Green pea soup served with smoked duck &crispy parmesan

Lime sorbet

For main course, I chose basil crusted salmon garlicmashed, saute spinach and lemon chives cream.

Sweet ending with chocolate brownie fondant vanilla with dragon fruit pineapple sorbet (gelato lab).

I would say, overall the food are flavorful and creatively prepared in terms of taste combination and presentations.

It is just that, what we learned from Avangio staff, if not mistaken, Mr Azwan/Aswan, it is the first time the hotel organised an event for Valentine's day.

We reserved a table a day before and arrived at 8pm. It seemed like there was some miscommunications among the staff, thus our names were not in the list. I was prepared to leave but Azwan assured that they would arrange a table for us.

Instead of at the dimmed and romantic setting of dining restaurant, we were set up at a "display" room with bright light and see-through glass panels.

There were also delays on serving food. It took about two hours for us to finish the course, and despite the package included a rose, but, again due to some technical problems, I did not get mine.

But, despite all the shortcomings, I went home happy as Mr Azwan/Aswan had been very responsible with everything. I get that due to overwhelming response of the celebration, things could go out of control.

His GOAL is just to make all couples happy on that day.

He apologised for many times and offered buffet dinner for 2 pax to make up everything. I asked whether I could let other friends have the buffet, but he insisted that I come.

The night to remember....is Avangio has a very good hospitality and responsible staff. Im pretty sure that they will make events better next time.
