1. Labuan Tiara hotel.

Came back to Labuan after a decade. Realised that I did not explore much of this place when I studied a year at the Labuan Matriculation College.

Our first stop after having lunch at the town was the Labuan Bird Park, it was quite far. About an hour of drive.

Some say that the place is poorly maintained. I would say, it is not superb but we did enjoy seeing at the birds roaming around the the area.

A real hornbill...my first time seeing them.

These ducks were very eager to come near when we fed them.

About a minute drive from the bird park is the chimney museum. It is also known as "punil" by the local community serve as historical landmark during coal mining era in Labuan in late 1980s.

The third must-visit place is the Labuan War cemetery.

The place is well kept in terms of maintenance of the structure and cleanliness.

Established by Commonwealth Graves Commission, the memorial park meant to honor men of the Australian land and air forces, as well as the local forces, who died valiantly during operations for the recovery of Borneo. Some were prisoners of war in Borneo or the Philippines.

According to www.blog.tourism.gov.my The identified burials number 1,752, of these there were 5 sailors, 1, 523 soldiers, 220 airmen and 4 civilians. They were represented by 814 British, 858 Australians, 1 New Zealander, 43 Indians and 36 Malayans, as well as members of the local forces of North Borneo, Brunei and Sarawak. The 34 Indian soldiers, whose remains were cremated, are commemorated on a memorial in the Indian army plot.

I had faced difficulty in answering my 6-year-old daughter's questions on "Did they win the war? How did they win if all of them died?"

Near the town, I enjoyed cycling around the Labuan beach near Labuan Marine Museum on an electrical bike. The rental is RM5 per 30 minutes.

The marine museum is not really big but the information is quite interesting. No entrance fee, but it is quite hot inside the building.

As for our accommodation, we stayed at Tiara Labuan hotel.

delicious spread of breakfast buffet

Chillaxing at its lounge bar because daughter wanted to try pool.

For dinner, we went to a "most recommended" western restaurant "Red Onion" which is located just less than 5 minutes drive from our hotel.

So nice that the chef was willing to mould Bree's pizza into teddy bear shape.

                                                    Spaghetti carbonara...Totally worth it.

Last stop before we took ferry back to Menumbok. It is Ujana Kewangan for chocolate shopping spree.
