Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, 30 July 2020 – Shangri-La’s Rasa Ria Resort & Spa launched the Tribe Rasa programme – Big Adventure for Little Explorers.
The General Manager of Rasa Ria, Fiona Hagan said that this initiative was created for our young explorers to help them experience the rich culture, immerse into adventure and explore the nature of Borneo through activities such as beach plogging, nature detective, tribal tales and much more.
"At Rasa Ria we place great value on sustainability and remain grateful for the support of our guests and colleagues in ensuring that we keep this piece of Borneo paradise as pristine as possible.
"Taking this a step forward with the Tribe Rasa initiative we hope to inspire children to take up the mantle of caring for the environment and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Sabah.”
At the heart of the Tribe Rasa programme are the loveable ‘Flora’ and ‘Fauna’. These two characters were given the name ‘Flora’ and ‘Fauna’ to represent the unique flowers, plants, birds and animals found in Borneo. Their costumes are inspired by the long-held traditions of the Bajau and Dusun tribes, two of over 30 ethnic groups of Sabahan Borneo.
Flora and Fauna, are presented as the magical protectors of Rasa Ria and its dedicated 64-acre nature reserve. With the help of the number activities Flora and Fauna will guide participating children through this fun and imaginative journey to better understand the wonders of Borneo.
The goal of this initiative is to free a child’s imagination, inspire sustainable action and ensure the lush rainforests of Borneo continue to thrive with the support of these young explorers.
Accompanied with an activities' passport, the ‘Tales of Kinabatangan’ storybook and an easy bag made of upcycled material, the Tribe Rasa programme includes a whole range of activities along with interactive educational experiences.
Completion of all the activities entitles the participating children to a certificate along with other rewards including a scoop of ice cream and a storybook about the animals from Kinabatangan. The Tribe Rasa programme has been specially created for children from the ages of 4 to 12 years old.
Tribe Rasa offers an opportunity for children to connect with nature, learn with the help of interactive activities, create friendships and become the guardians of Mother Earth with Flora and Fauna. With the Tribe Rasa Passport, every participating child now has the opportunity to become a Tribe Rasa Champion.
